Things I Spray Painted White

Because that’s what I did – spray paint a bunch of things white. Intriguing, yes? I think it is because it’s like I always say: Spray paint changes everything. It can also create pretty dramatic changes. There were quite a few items in the house that I had been meaning to paint (for a very long time) and finally my painting on since the weather was turning and spray painting season would soon be over (what a SAD thought). Here’s the run-down of the items that were in need of a little spray paint.

The frames in the guest bathroom were first on my list.

The pictures themselves are darker and with the dark frames I thought it just made a dark hole in a very light, bright bathroom. So on with a few coats of white spray paint and then back into the frames the van Goghs went (don’t you just looove van Gogh?). The result was actually a little surprising to me! All of a sudden the frames vanished into the walls and the pictures just sort of popped out!

At first I thought maybe I actually liked the darker frame, but in looking at the pictures in the room, the white is definitely better. It helps blend the darker prints into the brighter room. Mission accomplished.

Next up, the exciting world of vents! The vents in the guest bedroom and basement were painted the old yellow color that the entire house was painted pre-Rapps. They were very into painting over outlet/light covers and air vents. I actually like seeing the bright, white, fresh, and new covers and vents. They make a room crisp and clean looking in my opinion.

Here the are with their old paint. Not too bad looking, but I knew they could be better!

I have been replacing most of the covers with new ones since the paint jobs were somewhat bubbly and old looking. Except a few of the vent covers are odd sizes. I thought they were all the same size, so I measured one and bought a bunch. Oops! They aren’t the same size one room to another. They fit in the master bedroom, second guest bedroom, and guest bathroom but not in the first guest room and the basement. Hmmm…My solution was to just give them a nice coat of white. The result did show the old paint lines and bubbles through the new paint but the new, white gloss did quite a bit to disguise the imperfections. I love the result AND it reused instead of buying new. Score.

Now for the subtle but satisfying result.

Thus ends my adventures in white spray paint, my go-to solution for everything in need of a little sprucing up. Well, maybe not live things. No spray painting of dogs, trees, or humans around here. What are your solutions for items in need of a new look? Are you a spray paint freak like me or do you have another item you turn to?

Seriously.. thank you for starting this up. This site is something that is needed on the web, someone with a little originality!ReplyCancel
