On the Set of the Hunger Games

Let’s just start this post off by saying that I am in no way endorsing the plot and actions taken in the book/movie The Hunger Games. The only thing I am ogling over in this post is the décor found in The Hunger Games movie…nothing else. Needless to say, I watched The Hunger Games the other day and fell in love with the super modern and futuristic décor. It is gorgeous, funky, colorful, and just a little too much. I think I would like my house to look like all those adjectives! I thought I would share some of my favorite shots from the set.

The Dining Room

This is definitely my favorite room in the movie. The teal floor had me at hello with the neon green chairs making me swoon. Oh the light fixture, the light fixture. There are no words. You know how I love my glass chandeliers (oh yes, I have one here and one here). There is definitely a modern feel in the room with the concrete floors but the high gloss floor and patterned wall in the back in conjunction with the bright colors make it feel a little more home-y. I would take it all, funky chairs and all.

The Bedroom

Small bedroom shot – sorry, I couldn’t find one bigger! The set designers really found a good mix between modern and inviting. That bed is so fun with its bright colors and ornate structure (check out that headboard!) and the hanging lights everywhere are such a fun idea. Yet, it still has that modern feel with the grey, concrete walls (okay, okay it’s a little prison looking but I think it’s supposed to look like that – just focus in on the bed).

The Train

The train was so lavish and ornate – just what everyone wishes for in traveling (yet rarely get). This is definitely a hard shot in seeing a lot of the décor but there is no mistaking the lush velvet chairs. Just like my free chair, right? The food is definitely decoration too, with all the glass stands showing their lovely delicacies. The tall candlesticks in the background also give a grand impression.

The Living Room

Who knew overstuffed could be modern? Yet the longest wraparound couch I’ve ever seen here does it. I wonder if it’s comfortable? I love how it adds some visual interest against the concrete walls while the purple shag rug adds a delightful texture and lushness. Plus that modular, hexagon, moveable ottoman/table is brilliant. I would bring that into my living room immediately. It can be a table, a foot rest, an extra seat! It’s definitely a great piece with many uses. Plus the chair on the left is just begging me to drop into it and swivel around so the picture can show what looks like a fun, shapely, and comfy chair.

What do you think? Do you like nosing around set designs a little bit? They flash so quickly on the screen it’s fun to dissect something that so much thought was pun into. What is your favorite part? My vote still goes for the dining room chairs and light fixture!
