You might have guessed in this artwork post that I had something up my sleeve, er rather up my wall. I was up to mischief in my favorite room of the house, my Mego Cave. This room has come a long way in just under a year, and I think this project is one of its crowning projects. You might remember the wall above the love seat when I did one of my first projects for the room making some fabric artwork.
With the new wall color, this fabric wasn’t working. The two greens just weren’t jiving right for me. I had been on the hunt for a new piece of fabric that would liven up the room more, perhaps bringing in some of the colors in the memory board. Then, my mom and I visited Ikea and plans changed, like they tend to do in that store with so many opportunities for creativity inside! Instead, we found picture shelves and a slew of artwork and frames to put on them!
You saw how I put the artwork together the other week. This is what the artwork looks like up on its shelves!
The basic shape of these shelves are a lop-sided “u”. There is a back to screw in the wall, a bottom to place items on, and a small lip in the front to hold the pictures from sliding off. You could easily make something like this, but for the bargain price of $15 dollars each, you couldn’t buy the wood and paint for these for less!
Doesn’t it just add so much to the room? It brings a lot of color and dimension and flexibility! I can switch up the pictures whenever I want to make it have a little different feel. I’m in love!
