Here’s a quick, easy, and inexpensive project for you using things you may already have around the house.
Remember back when I had a fun Saturday doing all sorts of thrift shopping? One of the purchases I made was this pretty little coral vase. It’s so the rage now so of course I snapped it right up. It’s also a color I don’t have much any of in my house so I thought it would be a nice pop of color so everything didn’t end up green and blue (or variations thereof). As you can see at the top, it had some imperfections on it, like the color didn’t quite make it all the way to the top of the vase. I had spied it when I bought it, but it didn’t bother me.
The solution? Dip it in paint of course! I thought a nice metallic gold would bring a nice complementary (cause you can’t have too many objects around that say nice things to you…har har) color that would also spice it up a little. So I grabbed a less than $1 (word to AC Moore coupons) tube of gold acrylic paint.
Then I just dumped it in a bowl just a little bigger than the vase. Don’t worry, I don’t plan on wasting that paint.
Then I dip (when you dip, I dip you dip I dip….anyone else love that song?!).
Then I held it for what seemed like forever, shaking it now and then to help get the drips off. I never did quite get all the drips off but after a while I resigned that to be just one of those loving diy imperfections. Then I just left it alone to dry.
Wam bam thank you m’am it’s done. There it sits in all its glory. Five minute project done. So go grab some glass wear, stem wear, wooden bowls, whatever and dip to have a unique-to-you design! So really, when I dip will I dip you dip we dip?
PS – That blue fabric is a scrap of fabric from a project that I am working away on. Eeks I can’t wait to show it to you. That’s all I can say since I want it to be a surprise but I am chomping at the bit to get ‘er done and posted! One of my favorite projects thus far!
LOVE this! I need to try.
Thanks Jessica! I totally encourage you to do it. So easy, quick, and inexpensive! Share your results!
