This is what I have been waiting for…desperately. Crystals in the Mego Cave. Oh behold the glitter infusion! When I was picking a light fixture to go over the dining room, I wanted to choose a chandelier that was modern and sleek but with a little shine to it. The globed chandelier fit the bill perfectly. The glass gave off a glimmer but it wasn’t too girly. Now, for the other side of the Mego Cave, I was able to let my girly, glitterness explode a little bit more since this side is definitely more my area with my desk/crafting zone as well as my reading nook. So I thought it was okay to be less aware of the man in the home. He gave me free rein over letting the Mego Cave go girly. So heck, what did I do? Install a crystal light fixture of course!
This is what it was looking like before (with the new addition of the rug of course!).
Let’s get a close-up of its super ugly (like could win an award for ugly) light fixture.
To me it looks like moldy green dragonflies. Want to know what’s even worse? There are two of these in the house (the other one is in the basement). Geesh, the only light fixture that is duplicated in the house is that one?! They better have been a reallllly good deal, former owners.
Finding the replacement took much, much thought and searching. I had a few criteria in mind during this search. It needed to compliment the other light fixture in the room (kind of like how I picked out the two rugs in the room), it had to be a little bit glittery, and it had to be close to the ceiling. I finally found it over at LampsPlus, yet I didn’t buy it when I first found it. I just kept looking at it online, afraid to pull the trigger. I have no idea why, except for the fact that sometimes I get terrified to buy anything over $20. Finally, it went on sale plus free shipping so I bit the bullet. Then, only a week after I ordered it, it went on sale even more (hello price adjustment 60 days after you buy it)! So I got my perfectly, perfect light fixture for $40 off and with free shipping!
Now here it is with its glass and glitter. For some inexplicable reason, every time I turn on the light switch words like “Oh! Ah! Beautiful! Eek! Hurray! I love you!” come out of my mouth. I really can’t help it.
Let’s take a look at how the two globed light fixtures go together in the room. I’m kind of in love with how they seem like a set but not too matchy, matchy.
Now a close-up (turned off) so you can oogle at it in detail.
Wow, things are really getting checked off the Mego Cave list. The only big purchase left is a loveseat and then some organization projects, artwork, and shelving are on the docket. For now, you will just see me turning the light on and off and whispering sweet nothings at it.
